Story
A rich and comic drama about the people of Cranford, a small Cheshire town on the cusp of change in the 1840s. Adapted from the novels by Elizabeth Gaskell.
About the show
Cranford is a British five-part television series directed by Simon Curtis and Steve Hudson. The teleplay by Heidi Thomas was adapted from three books by Elizabeth Gaskell: the novels Cranford, published 1851 to 1853, and My Lady Ludlow (1858), and the novella Mr Harrison's Confessions (1851). "The Last Generation in England" was also used as a source.
